The Children's Hospital at Saint Peter's offers many subspecialties for children
and young adults ages 0 through 21. These specialty services include:
Division of Adolescent Medicine
Led by a board-certified pediatrician who is also certified in adolescent medicine
by the American Board of Pediatrics, the division cares for young women and men
between the ages of 10 and 21. Saint Peter's Adolescent Medicine program focuses
on puberty and gynecologic health, including polycystic ovarian syndrome; overweight
and obesity; acne; and other issues that concern this age group.
Diabetes and Endocrinology Services
The Center for Diabetes Self-Management promotes the concept of parent-supervised
self-care through education, medication (including the insulin pump) and emotional
support. The state-designated
Regional Center for Inherited Endocrine Disorders
provides testing, treatment and education related to congenital hypothyroidism and
congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). The Center also provides evaluation and management
of puberty, growth, thyroid and mineral metabolism disorders.
Psychological Services
For KEEPS (Kids Embraced and Empowered through Psychological Services)
is a regional psychiatric full-time day service for children between the ages of
5 and 17. This program is licensed by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior
Services and has achieved "deemed status" for reaching and surpassing its treatment
goals.
